Kamilári existed long before Roman times and therefore offers, in the village or outside, many interesting archaeological sites that you should visit during your stay :
Kamilári : Minoan tombs within walking distance of the centre.
Komos : Just before reaching the beautiful beaches, you pass the archaeological site that is believed to have been the port of the Palace of Phaistos.
Phaistos : the second most important Minoan palace in Crete (after Knossos in Heraklion).
Agia Triada: possibly the summer palace of Phaistos. The famous sarcophagi-frescoes have been found in this area.
Gortys : a vast Roman city housing the first written law in Europe.
